Julius Malema fails to get UK visa
South African politician Julius Malema’s UK visa application has been denied, sparking criticism from the EFF leader. Malema was set to speak at the University of Cambridge’s Africa Together Conference.
The UK High Commission attributed the delay to processing time and bank holidays. However, Malema alleges the decision is an attempt to silence his anti-Western views.
Malema called the decision “unacceptable and spineless,” stating that the EFF delegation had been assured everything would be sorted before receiving the rejection letter hours before departure.

Julius Malema, leader of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party, is speaking out against the UK government’s decision to deny him a visa to attend a conference at the University of Cambridge. Malema was set to address the Africa Together Conference on May 10.
The UK High Commissioner’s office cited delays in processing the application due to bank holidays as the reason for the denial. However, Malema claims the decision is an attempt to silence his dissenting views, particularly his criticism of Western powers.
The EFF party has also accused the UK High Commission of deliberately delaying the visa application process. Malema expressed his disappointment and frustration, calling the decision “unacceptable and spineless.”
