King Mswati III Strengthens Ties Between Eswatini and Ghana
King Mswati III of Eswatini concluded a four-day state visit to Ghana, leaving a lasting impression on the warm hospitality and rich cultural heritage of the country. During his visit, which began on June 24, 2025, the King engaged in several high-level meetings and cultural events aimed at deepening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between Eswatini and Ghana.

Upon his arrival, King Mswati III was warmly received by President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House, where they held bilateral talks to discuss areas of mutual interest and cooperation. The King’s visit to Kumasi, the cultural heartland of Ghana, was particularly significant, as he paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.
The King’s visit was marked by several cultural events, including a grand durbar of chiefs at the Manhyia Palace, where he was honored with a citation by the Asantehene for his contributions to traditional leadership. King Mswati III also visited the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he was accorded a grand reception.
The state visit is expected to culminate in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ghana and Eswatini, signaling a new era of cooperation between the two nations. The MoU is expected to cover areas such as trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchange.
In his farewell address, King Mswati III expressed his gratitude to President Mahama and the people of Ghana for the warm hospitality and generous reception accorded to him during his visit. He praised the Ghanaian government and people for their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
