Swedish Hip-Hop Star C Gambino Murdered in Execution-Style Attack
Three young men have received long prison sentences for their involvement in the murder of award-winning Swedish rapper C Gambino, who was gunned down in a car park in Gothenburg in 2024. The court found the killing was meticulously planned and carried out with chilling precision.
C Gambino, born Karar Ramadan, had been honored as Sweden’s hip-hop artist of the year just a month before his death. He was 26 years old at the time of the attack, which prosecutors described as a ruthless and targeted execution.
Sentencing and Charges
The Gothenburg court sentenced a 22-year-old man to life imprisonment, while two others aged 21 and 20 received sentences of 15 and a half years and 12 and a half years respectively. All three were convicted of aiding and abetting murder. However, the court could not establish with certainty which individual fired the fatal shots, resulting in the murder charge being dropped for two of the men.
A fourth individual, aged 19, was found guilty of setting fire to the getaway car used in the shooting.
No Murder Weapon, But Surveillance Helped
The murder weapon was never recovered, and investigators were unable to trace any DNA evidence to the suspects. However, mobile phone data and extensive surveillance footage played a critical role in piecing together the events surrounding the killing.
CCTV recordings from the multi-storey car park revealed that the attackers had been scouting the area for over a week before the murder. On the night of the attack, the suspects reportedly waited hours for C Gambino to return from the gym before launching the ambush.
Emergency Response Hampered
Despite being able to call for help after being shot, C Gambino died in the hospital about an hour later. According to Swedish broadcaster SVT, emergency responders faced communication problems at the scene and were forced to shout instructions to each other due to a malfunction in their system.
The court described the attack as resembling a “pure execution” in its premeditation and severity.
Link to Gang Violence, But Victim Not Affiliated
While the murder is believed to be connected to a broader gang conflict in Gothenburg, prosecutors clarified that there was no evidence linking C Gambino to any criminal organization. The motive behind the killing remains unknown, but authorities suspect it was part of an escalating pattern of gang-related violence affecting Sweden’s major cities.
The country has seen a sharp rise in gang activity in recent years, with dozens of fatalities often involving minors recruited to carry out deadly attacks.
Shocking Youth Involvement in Related Gang Crimes
In a separate case also concluded this week, a 14-year-old boy was found guilty of killing a man in Skurup, southern Sweden, on the orders of the infamous Foxtrot gang. Two other minors were also convicted—one for conspiracy and another for preparing the attack.
Due to Swedish law, none of the three will be punished as they are below the legal age of criminal responsibility, which is 15.
The Skurup victim was targeted because his son had reportedly refused to participate in a gang operation for Foxtrot.
Gang Leader Associate Arrested in Iraq
Swedish authorities have reported that police in Iraq’s Kurdistan region recently arrested a prominent member of the Foxtrot gang. The suspect is known to be close to gang leader Rawa Majid and is allegedly linked to several violent crimes in Sweden, including the Skurup killing.
This arrest marks a major development in Sweden’s efforts to curb the influence of organized criminal groups operating within and beyond its borders.
