Cardi B Cleared of Assault in $24M Security Guard Case
American rapper Cardi B has been cleared by a California court of assaulting a former security guard in 2018.
The $24 million lawsuit was filed by Emani Ellis, who claimed the artist then pregnantย cut her cheek with a fingernail and spat on her during an altercation at a Beverly Hills obstetricianโs office.
After less than an hour of deliberation, a 12-member Los Angeles jury unanimously ruled in favor of the Grammy-winning rapper, citing insufficient evidence from the plaintiff.
Court Rejects Assault Claims

Ellis alleged that Cardi B physically attacked her, but jurors found the testimony unconvincing.
The rapper acknowledged that an argument occurred but firmly denied laying hands on the former guard.
Cardi B Testifies in Her Defense
During two days of livestreamed testimony, Cardi B told the court she feared Ellis might disclose her pregnancy before she made it public.
She insisted the confrontation never became violent.
โI will say it on my deathbed. I did not touch that woman. I did not touch that girl. I didnโt lay my hands on that girl,โ she said after the verdict.
