Abu Trica

A Ghanaian man known as Abu Trica has been remanded into police custody following a court appearance at the Gbese District Court today. The court adjourned the ongoing extradition proceedings to March 18, 2026, for further hearing.

Abu Trica was brought before the court in connection with an extradition request. Details of the requesting country and the specific allegations were not immediately outlined in open court but prosecutors indicated that the matter involves international legal cooperation.

During proceedings, the state prosecutor outlined nine transactions allegedly linked to Abu Trica in the alleged eight million dollar romance scam.

According to a reports, prosecutors have accused Abu Trica of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering, among other charges.

Detailing the nine specific transactions that allegedly make up the eight million dollars, prosecutors stated that Abu Trica received amounts of fifty thousand dollars, fifty-two thousand dollars, sixty-eight thousand five hundred dollars, twenty thousand one hundred and forty-one dollars, four hundred and twenty-two dollars, four million one hundred thousand dollars, two million four hundred thousand dollars, ninety-three thousand dollars, and five hundred and ninety thousand dollars.

Extradition cases typically involve coordination between Ghanaian authorities and foreign governments, guided by bilateral agreements and domestic law. The court must determine whether the legal requirements for extradition have been satisfied before any transfer can be approved.

Legal observers note that such cases often take months to resolve, as the court examines documentation, reviews evidence submitted by the requesting state, and considers any objections raised by the defense. The adjournment to March 18, 2026, suggests that additional filings or procedural steps are expected before a substantive ruling is made.

Security was visible around the court premises during the hearing, though proceedings were conducted without disruption. Abu Trica did not make a public statement following the session.

The case has drawn public interest due to its international dimension and further details are expected to emerge when the matter resumes next month. Until then, the accused remains in police custody as directed by the court.
