Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides has confirmed that an Iranian drone struck a Royal Air Force (RAF) base on the island, escalating tensions in the already volatile Middle East region. The base, located at RAF Akrotiri, is a key British military installation used for regional security operations.
According to Cypriot authorities, the drone impact did not result in major casualties, but the incident has raised serious security concerns. The strike comes amid heightened hostilities involving Iran, Israel, and Western allies, increasing fears that the conflict could spread further across strategic locations in the Mediterranean.
Officials are currently assessing the damage while diplomatic efforts continue to prevent further escalation.
