Van breaches White House barricade; driver arrested, no injuries reported.

A van went right through a security barricade close to the White House early Wednesday morning. Law enforcement reacted quickly.

The Metropolitan Police Department, or MPD, said officers were sent around 6:37 a.m. to help the Secret Service. That’s because the van drove through a barricade where Connecticut Avenue and H Street Northwest meet.

Good news: nobody got hurt. The driver was caught right there on the spot.

They’re still looking into what happened, so some streets nearby are closed for a bit. These are New Jersey Avenue SE between D and E Streets, Ivy Street SE between New Jersey Avenue and Canal Street, E Street SE between First Street and South Capitol Street, and Canal Street SE between South Capitol Street and E Street.

Police are telling drivers to stay away from the area and find other ways to go until the roads open back up.

If you know anything about this, the Metropolitan Police Department wants you to call them at (202) 727-9099 or text 50411. They haven’t said anything yet about who the driver is or why they did it.A van crashed into a security gate near the White House early on Wednesday, and the police quickly got involved.
