Former Arsenal F.C. midfielder Thomas Partey is expected to deny two new rape allegations, a court has heard.
The 32-year-old footballer was recently charged with two counts of rape relating to an alleged incident involving a woman during a date in December 2020.
These charges come after earlier allegations in which Partey was charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving different complainants.
Court proceedings
A preliminary hearing for the latest charges took place at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London.
Partey was not required to attend the hearing in person, but his barrister, Emma Fenn, told the court that he intends to plead not guilty to both counts.
Next court date
The case will move to a higher court where the footballer is expected to formally enter his plea.
A hearing has been scheduled for 10 April at a crown court in London.
Legal proceedings remain ongoing, and no verdict has been reached in relation to any of the charges.
