Two men have been arrested in connection with the arson attack on volunteer-led Jewish ambulances in Golders Green, north London. The suspects, aged 47 and 45, were taken into custody on Wednesday at separate addresses in northwest and central London. They remain in police custody as searches continue.
The arrests relate to the attack in the early hours of Monday, 23 March, when four Hatzola ambulances were set on fire. CCTV footage suggests at least three people were involved in the incident, which police are treating as a serious threat to community safety.
Commander Helen Flanagan, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, called the arrests a significant breakthrough but emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing. “We will continue to work tirelessly to identify all involved and ensure the community is safe,” she said.
Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams added that enhanced security measures, including armed patrols and specialist officers, are being deployed across vulnerable areas of London to reassure the public.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the police on 101, referencing 415 of 23 March, or Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
