Famed Nollywood filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has negated rumours of a rivalry between himself and Ibrahim Chatta, actor and filmmaker, following the latter’s recent visit to the KAP Film Village and Resort.

Chatta visited the resort during a watch party for Aníkúlápó: The Series, which had been filmed at the location. The film village, instituted by Afolayan, is both a production and leisure site with movie sets, accommodation, hiking trails, and cultural tourism.

In a video that went viral on X, Afolayan said there is no competition between them, saying both creatives promote African heritage and identity.

There is a happening centre in Oyo. If you have never been to Oyo, you should pay a visit to it”. Afolayan said their ways of doing things creatively are different and noted that this is the first time Chatta is visiting despite being invited previously. On the contrary, he admitted to not having visited Chatta’s facility.

In a separate video, Chatta lauded the resort’s serene environment and architectural design, and called it one of the best locations he has seen in Africa. He emphasized the lack of noise pollution since he is fond of nature and the sounds of birds and crickets. Chatta also made a call to all Nigerians both at home and abroad to visit Chatta as it offers a unique experience in which one can get a glimpse of the rich and diverse Nigerian culture as well as a place to unwind and relax.
