Deadly Russian Strikes Hit Kyiv, Odesa and Dnipro, Killing 12 as War Intensifies

At least 12 people have been killed following a wave of Russian strikes across major Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipro, as the conflict continues to escalate.

Ukrainian officials say the overnight attacks into Thursday left dozens more injured, with emergency services working through the night to extinguish fires and clear debris.

In the capital, Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that four people were killed, including a 12-year-old boy. In Odesa, six fatalities were reported, while authorities in Dnipro confirmed one death and at least 10 injuries.

The latest strikes come amid ongoing aerial assaults in what has become a prolonged war of attrition. Ukraine has repeatedly accused Russia of targeting civilian and industrial areas, while Moscow maintains that its strikes are aimed at military infrastructure.

Earlier this month, Ukrainian forces reported gains of 12 settlements covering approximately 480 square kilometres. However, intense fighting continues in key regions, including around Pokrovsk and Sumy.

Efforts led by the United States to broker a ceasefire have so far failed, with both sides accusing each other of repeated violations. Kyiv reported nearly 7,700 alleged Russian breaches on April 12 alone.

Military analysts in France say territorial changes remain limited, despite continued deep strikes on both sides. Ukraine has also carried out counter-attacks, including a recent strike on the Feodosia oil terminal in Crimea.

As the war drags on, the humanitarian toll continues to rise, with civilians bearing the brunt of ongoing hostilities.
