Davido insists politics won’t stop him from performing music

The Nigerian music star, Davido, said he doesn’t believe his music career would end even if he went into government. He was on a live stream recently with Davrel, and during that chat, the award-winning singer explained that he’d keep performing even if he took on a public job.

He believes having a government role doesn’t automatically mean you have to stop being part of the entertainment scene. Davido brought up Michel Martelly as an example. Martelly managed to stay a musician while he was the President of Haiti. He even kept performing and went on tour during his time in office.

“If I ever do decide to work in government, I’d still be performing,” he mentioned. “I don’t think that puts a stop to anything. Of course, it wouldn’t be as often as I perform now.” But even with all that, Davido said his interest in politics has actually gone down lately.

He explained that watching what happened to other entertainers who got into politics has made him think twice about trying it himself. A lot of Nigerian celebrities who tried their hand at politics haven’t really done well, he added, and that’s definitely made him rethink his own ideas about getting into government.
