Gabrielle Union recently shared an emotional and deeply personal moment from her visit to Cape Town after revealing that she buried her late father’s ashes at a local vineyard that holds special meaning for her family.
The actress visited Klein Goederust Boutique Winery, which she described as the only Black-owned winery in Cape Town. In a heartfelt social media post, Union explained that her father’s ashes were laid to rest beneath the same vines the family had planted together years earlier.
“May you nourish the earth the way you nourished us. May the blessings be bountiful. May the abundance be wrapped in peace, kindness, and consideration. May the legacy continue,” she wrote alongside a touching video from the vineyard.
Union later revealed that after her family left the estate, the winery team replaced the temporary lipstick marker used during the ceremony with a permanent memorial, a gesture she appeared deeply moved by.
During her South African trip, the “Bring It On” actress also shared moments exploring Cape Town and supporting local businesses. She visited AKJP Studio, a fashion store known for showcasing local designers, joking in one clip that she had intended to buy only “one or two things” before indulging in a shopping spree.
The actress also hinted that she is currently working on a mystery film project in South Africa. She teased fans by posting a selfie with fellow actor Michael Ealy, though she kept further details under wraps.
Union’s emotional tribute and celebration of family, legacy and culture resonated with fans online, many praising the actress for choosing such a meaningful resting place for her father.
