Tyla Set to Shine at Afro Nation Portugal as Global Momentum Builds Ahead of New Album
Tyla is continuing her remarkable rise on the global stage as she prepares to perform at the renowned Afro Nation Portugal, one of the world’s biggest celebrations of African music and culture.
The performance comes as excitement continues to build ahead of the release of Tyla’s highly anticipated sophomore album, “A*POP.” Having recently graced several major international stages, the South African star is once again taking her music to a global audience, reinforcing her position as one of Africa’s most influential artists.
Since its launch in 2019, Afro Nation has grown into one of the continent’s premier music festivals, bringing together African artists and fans from across the globe. Hosted annually on the picturesque beaches of Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Portugal, the event has featured performances from some of Africa’s biggest names, including Burna Boy, Davido, Rema and Tems.
This year’s edition is expected to once again showcase the growing global influence of South African music, particularly the amapiano genre. A number of South African performers are set to take the stage, highlighting the country’s vibrant music scene and its expanding international reach.
Among the artists representing South Africa are Kelvin Momo, whose soulful amapiano sound has earned widespread acclaim, and Zee Nxumalo, whose chart-topping hits have made her one of the genre’s rising stars. Their appearances are expected to further strengthen amapiano’s growing popularity with international audiences.
Also joining the lineup is actor and DJ Hungani Ndlovu, who recently revived his DJ career under the stage name DJ Grizi after a six-year break. The multi-talented entertainer recently announced that he had secured two performance bookings in Portugal’s Algarve region, marking another milestone in his return to music.
Sharing his excitement on social media, Ndlovu celebrated the opportunity by expressing gratitude for the unexpected international bookings. His return to the DJ booth has also seen the launch of his YouTube series, “BREEZE Sessions,” a platform dedicated to showcasing house, amapiano, Afrobeats, 3-Step and gqom music while giving emerging artists and DJs an opportunity to reach wider audiences.
With Tyla leading a strong South African contingent, Afro Nation Portugal is once again expected to serve as a global platform for African talent. As anticipation grows for her upcoming album, the festival performance represents another major moment in Tyla’s rapidly expanding international career and highlights the continued global success of South African music.
