The people of Asante Kingdom saw Nana Ama Bonsu for the time as the new Asantehemaa during a traditional ceremony at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Monday. This is a deal for the people of Asanteman.
Nana Ama Bonsu is now the Queen Mother because Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III passed away. Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III was 98 years old when she died on August 7 2025. She was born in 1927. Was the Queen Mother for eight years.
Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III became the Asantehemaa in 2017 when she was 90 years old. She took over from her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II. Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III was also the sister of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Before Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II was the Asantehemaa for 39 years. She died on November 15 2016 when she was 109 years old.
