Tim Westwood Charged With Two More Sexual Offences

Two Additional Charges

Former BBC Radio 1 and Capital Xtra DJ Tim Westwood has been charged with two further sexual offences following an ongoing Metropolitan Police investigation. The new charges relate to alleged non-recent incidents involving two additional women.

Alleged 1991 Indecent Assault

Westwood, 68, is accused of indecently assaulting a teenage girl aged between 16 and 17 in Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991. The allegation forms one of the two newly authorised charges.

Alleged 2004 Sexual Assault

The second charge concerns an alleged sexual assault against an 18-year-old woman in Wandsworth in May 2004. The Metropolitan Police said both allegations relate to separate reports made by women who were not part of the earlier case.

Total Charges Rise to 17

The latest charges are in addition to 15 charges brought against Westwood in October 2025 in connection with seven women. Those charges include four counts of rape, nine counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault. Westwood now faces 17 charges involving nine women.

Westwood Denies Allegations

Westwood has previously denied allegations of sexual offences, including rape and sexual assault. He pleaded not guilty to the earlier charges in December 2025. The new allegations remain matters for the courts, and Westwood is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy said the women who have reported allegations had placed their trust in police. He said the Metropolitan Police remained committed to supporting them throughout the investigation and directed those affected to independent support services.

Court Appearance Expected

Westwood is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court at a future date in relation to the two additional charges. The Met said further proceedings would take place as the investigation continues.

Trial Scheduled for January

A trial concerning the original 15 charges is scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court on January 25, 2027. The proceedings will address allegations relating to seven women and offences said to have occurred between 1983 and 2016.

CPS Authorises Further Charges

The Crown Prosecution Service authorised the two additional charges after prosecutors considered evidence gathered by Metropolitan Police detectives. The CPS said the new charges relate to separate reports involving two additional women.

Fair Trial Reminder

The CPS has stressed that the criminal proceedings are active and that Westwood has the right to a fair trial. The allegations have not been tested in court, and the outcome of the proceedings will determine whether any criminal liability is established.
