Mario to headline We Love R&B concert in Pretoria

Multi-platinum-selling R&B star Mario will headline Pretoria’s inaugural We Love R&B Concert Experience, joining previously announced groups Dru Hill and Silk for a night of classic R&B hits. The concert will take place at SunBet Arena at Time Square in Menlyn on May 22, 2027.

Two decades of R&B hits

Mario has built a career spanning more than two decades and became internationally known with his hit Let Me Love You. His catalogue also includes Just a Friend 2002, How Do I Breathe, Crying Out for Me and Music for Love.

Dru Hill set to perform

Mario will share the stage with Dru Hill, who are known for songs including In My Bed, Never Make a Promise and These Are the Times. The group was previously announced as one of the main acts for the inaugural concert.

Silk brings classic sounds

American R&B quartet Silk will also perform, with their set expected to include popular songs such as Freak Me and Meeting in My Bedroom. Their addition adds another established R&B act to the Pretoria line-up.

Organisers reveal final act

Remoakantse Holdings had previously kept the identity of a third international act secret, promising another major announcement. The organisers have now confirmed that Mario will take the headline position alongside Dru Hill and Silk.

Organisers excited about concert

Remoakantse Holdings managing director Thabiso Mogashwa said Mario’s addition completes the line-up the organisers wanted for the event. He said the three artists have music that has remained popular across generations.

R&B nostalgia comes to Pretoria

The concert will bring together songs associated with 1990s and 2000s R&B, giving South African fans an opportunity to see three established American acts perform on the same stage.
