Tests Show No Further Infections

Kenya’s Health Ministry said on Sunday that tests conducted on 293 samples had detected no additional cases. The country’s first confirmed Ebola patient was a 40-year-old man who tested positive in the Democratic Republic of Congo before travelling to Nairobi, where he died. Authorities subsequently began tracing people who had been in contact with him and urged anyone experiencing symptoms to seek medical attention.

Contacts Remain Under Monitoring

Of the 122 people identified through the deceased patient’s contact list, 108 are currently in quarantine and have not developed symptoms, according to the ministry. Officials have urged the public to remain vigilant and follow recommended safety measures. The government has also established a dedicated information line, 719, for people seeking guidance about Ebola.

Kenya Says Case Was Imported

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention said last week that Kenya had not experienced an Ebola outbreak, describing the infection as an imported case. Health authorities continue to monitor the situation as they work to prevent further transmission.

Ebola Outbreak Continues in DR Congo

The ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo was declared on May 15 and involves the Bundibugyo strain, for which there is currently no approved vaccine or specific treatment. Figures released by the country’s National Institute of Public Health on Sunday reported 8,978 cases and 4,336 deaths.
