One of the planes, arriving from Dublin, was escorted by the Italian Air Force before landing.

The searches came after five other flights were targeted by suspected threats and landed at European airports earlier.

Two aircraft were inspected in Warsaw, including a flight that departed from London Heathrow. Two others landed in Sofia.

Another plane travelling from Manchester was inspected in Murcia, Spain. A local official said no explosives were found on board.

One passenger described the scene after landing in Murcia, saying the bomb squad arrived after the aircraft touched down.

The incidents follow another suspected bomb threat on Monday, when a flight from London Luton to Sofia made an emergency landing in Budapest.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the separate threats are connected.
