Chris Brown Arrested in UK Over Alleged 2023 Bottle Assault
US singer Chris Brown was taken into custody at a Manchester hotel early Thursday morning in connection with a 2023 nightclub incident in London. The 36-year-old R&B star is accused of attacking music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair area, allegedly striking him with a bottle and kicking him while he was on the ground.
The alleged assault, which occurred on February 19, 2023, left Diaw needing crutches to walk after being discharged from the hospital. Diaw has reportedly filed a civil claim seeking $16 million in damages.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest, stating that a 36-year-old man was detained at a Manchester hotel around 2 am on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Brown’s representatives have been approached for comment.
This isn’t Brown’s first brush with the law. He has a history of legal issues, including a 2009 arrest for physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna and other incidents involving alleged assaults, probation violations, and weapons charges.
Brown was scheduled to embark on a UK tour, “Breezy Bowl XX,” in June, with 10 shows planned across the country. It’s unclear how this arrest will impact his tour dates ¹.
