Born in Sierra Leone and based in Ghana, Binta has spent years promoting underused African crops and traditional food systems. Through her work, she has elevated indigenous ingredients to global recognition, shining a spotlight on Africa’s rich culinary culture.

“This role means standing at the intersection of culture, food, and policy,” Binta said as she accepted the award. “I want to advocate for Africa’s forgotten foods and ensure rural communities are heard.”
