Away from the Soweto drama, Richards Bay FC delivered one of the standout performances of the round, crushing Chippa United 4–1. Coach Ronnie Gabriel praised his players for their energy and attacking mindset, highlighting the impact of new signing Knox Mutizwa.

The former Golden Arrows striker scored twice, while Ntlonelo Bomelo and Lundi Mahala also found the back of the net. Mutizwa’s resurgence has reignited talk of a return to the Zimbabwe national team, where he previously earned 22 caps.

“He’s a natural goalscorer with great instincts. His work ethic has lifted the entire team,” said Gabriel after the match.

The result was not just a win it was a statement that Richards Bay intend to compete seriously in this year’s competition.

Gcaba’s journey was one of redemption  after giving away a penalty that led to Polokwane’s equaliser, he responded with two goals in extra time to secure the win. His determination and humility made him an instant fan favourite.
