Cardi B to Headline 2025 Global Citizen Festival After The Weeknd Cancels

New York rapper joins Shakira, Tyla and Ayra Starr at Central Park’s Great Lawn this Saturday.

Global Citizen has confirmed that Cardi B will headline this year’s festival in New York City’s Central Park on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

She replaces The Weeknd, who withdrew from the event citing personal reasons.

The Canadian singer apologised to fans in a statement, saying:

“I regret to share that, due to personal reasons, I am unable to perform at Global Citizen. Thank you to my fans for taking action, as I believe in their mission deeply. Thank you for your understanding and support.”

Cardi B Returns to the Festival

Cardi B expressed excitement about her return:

“Central Park, I’m coming for you!!! I can’t wait to be home in New York, and to bring my new songs and all the DRAMA to the Global Citizen Festival.

This one’s not like other music festivals; this one is about coming together to help children around the world, and I’m so proud to support such an important cause.”

The “Nice Guy” hitmaker first performed at Global Citizen in 2018 and has since supported its campaigns, including “Just Vote” and the Global Citizen Rewards programme.
