Jessie J Reveals Cancer Surgery Success: “I Am OK”
Singer receives all-clear after mastectomy following early breast cancer diagnosis
London, UK – British pop star Jessie J has shared emotional news with fans after receiving positive test results following her recent breast cancer surgery, confirming that there has been no spread of the disease.
The 37-year-old singer, known for hits like Price Tag, Nobody’s Perfect, and Who You Are, underwent a mastectomy in June after being diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. On Monday, she posted a heartfelt message to her 14 million Instagram followers, saying she was shedding “happy tears” over the news.
In a video filmed the night before her surgery, Jessie shared a sweet moment with her son, who says: “Mummy’s gonna be OK.” She captioned the clip: “And… I am OK.”
“Lots of Healing to Go”
The singer thanked fans for their prayers, love, and positive energy, writing:
“Your messages have lifted me up more than I can explain.”
Jessie J also revealed that while she is now cancer-free, she still has “lots of healing to go” and is awaiting reconstructive surgery, joking about her breasts:
“I’m waiting for an operation to make these cousins look more like sisters.”
With characteristic humour, she signed off calling herself “The LopJess Monster,” a play on “Loch Ness Monster.”
Celebrity Support and Fan Reaction

Celebrities and fans flooded the comments with messages of love and support. TV presenter Rochelle Humes and singer Paloma Faith were among the stars who congratulated Jessie.
Many women affected by breast cancer also responded, praising Jessie for her honesty and bravery in speaking openly about her diagnosis and recovery.
Advocacy and Early Detection
More than 56,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year, according to Cancer Research UK.
Health expert Maxine Lenza said Jessie’s openness will encourage others to be proactive about their health:
“In most cases it won’t be cancer, but if it is, spotting it early can make a real difference and provides the best chance for successful treatment.”
The NHS advises anyone concerned to look out for:
-
A lump or swelling in the breast, chest or armpit
-
Changes in size, shape, or appearance of the breast or nipple
-
Persistent pain in the breast or armpit
Jessie J is also preparing to release a new album, her first in several years, as her classic hit Price Tag enjoys a viral resurgence on social media.
