Kuami Eugene Reveals New Haircut Marks Departure from Lynx Entertainment
Ghanaian music sensation Kuami Eugene has officially confirmed that his new look—a clean, down-cut hairstyle—is not just a fashion change but a symbolic break from Lynx Entertainment. The hitmaker described the move as a powerful gesture of renewal and independence as he enters a new phase of his career.
A New Look for a New Beginning
Speaking in an interview with media personality Doreen Avio, Kuami Eugene explained that his decision to chop off his long-maintained hair was about more than aesthetics. After years of wearing different styles—twists, braids, and afros—he wanted a visual representation of change.
“It’s a transition from the Lynx boy to your family sweet boy, Kuami Eugene,” he said.
The musician, known for his chart-topping hits, described this change as deeply personal. After nearly six years without a down-cut, this shift reflects his desire to express freedom, maturity, and a redefined identity outside of his label roots.
Quiet Departure in Motion Before Public Announcement
While many fans were surprised by his exit from Lynx, Kuami revealed that the departure was already in motion long before it was made public. He disclosed that discussions about parting ways began around the time he released his hit song Monica.
“People didn’t know, but from Monica time, we were in talks for exits,” he revealed.
He further clarified that when he released Belinda, he was no longer under Lynx Entertainment at all, though he chose not to make the news public immediately. The official announcement eventually came from Lynx boss Richie Mensah, after which Kuami received an outpouring of calls and reactions.
Eight Years Under Lynx: A Journey of Growth
Reflecting on his time with Lynx Entertainment, Kuami Eugene expressed appreciation for the experience, calling it a beautiful journey. Having joined the label after winning MTN Hitmaker in 2016, he rose to fame with hits like Angela, Wish Me Well, and Open Gate—cementing his place as one of Ghana’s most versatile musical talents.
“I’ve actually done eight years under Lynx Entertainment,” he emphasized. “It’s been a beautiful journey.”
Praise from Industry Giants Amid Mixed Reactions

Following the news of his exit, Kuami said the responses from the public and fellow industry players were varied. Some offered praise and support, while others expressed concern or skepticism about his future as an independent artist.
He acknowledged voices like A Plus and MC Portfolio, who expressed faith in his potential to thrive beyond Lynx. A Plus even stated that with the right management and freedom, Kuami could become a much bigger artist globally.
“A Plus said something that with Kuami’s talent, if he’s on his own, he’ll become a very big person one day,” Kuami quoted.
Responding Respectfully to Guru’s Criticism
Kuami Eugene also addressed past remarks by rapper Guru, who had once suggested that Kuami might flop after leaving Lynx. Despite their rocky history, Kuami responded with grace and respect, noting that Guru now holds a leadership position as President of the University of Ghana’s student body.
“It’s a shame he brought the fight from Richie to me, but he’s a president now. I respect that,” Kuami commented.
He added that while he was disappointed by Guru’s remarks in the past, he believes Guru has matured and would not repeat such statements today.
A Star Moving Forward on His Own Terms
As Kuami Eugene steps into his independence, industry watchers and fans alike are curious to see how this new chapter unfolds. With an established fanbase, multiple hit singles, and a string of awards—including the VGMA Artiste of the Year in 2020—Kuami is well-positioned for continued success.
This bold haircut and public acknowledgment of his independence mark more than just a personal shift—it’s a statement that Kuami Eugene is ready to write his own story.
