Ghanaian music legend Reggie Rockstone has made a surprising splash in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA). At the age of 61, the rap icon took part in a thrilling Global World Championship bout at the Bukom Boxing Arena, where he stunned fans by defeating his younger opponent, William Adom, via submission.

Despite his age catching up with him in the early rounds, Reggie Rockstone quickly gained momentum and managed to hold his opponent in a chokehold until he tapped out. The event drew a large crowd of fight enthusiasts and music fans, with notable attendees including Kimathi Rawlings.

What many people may not know is that Reggie Rockstone’s journey in martial arts predates his music career. As he revealed in a pre-fight interview, he was once a Shotokan brown belt and a two-time junior Taekwondo champion.

“If you’ve known me for over 50 years, you’d know I started martial arts before music. I was the youngest Shotokan brown belt and a two-time junior Taekwondo champion,” he shared.

Reggie’s decision to take on the challenge was not only a personal test but also a mission to inspire Ghana’s youth and promote the country’s growing MMA scene. “I want to use my celebrity status to build MMA in Ghana and show that age shouldn’t be a barrier to pursuing new goals,” he said. Despite initial doubts from his family, Reggie’s victory has sparked a national conversation and inspired many to consider training and fitness.
