Mark Zuckerberg sues Facebook Meta due to mistaken identity
An Indiana bankruptcy attorney named Mark S. Zuckerberg is suing Meta, the parent company of Facebook, over repeated suspensions of his account due to mistaken identity. Despite providing multiple proofs of identity, Zuckerberg’s accounts have been disabled five times over the past eight years, with Facebook accusing him of “impersonating a celebrity,” referring to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The lawsuit, filed in Marion Superior Court, claims breach of contract and seeks damages, including reimbursement for lost advertising funds totaling around $11,000. Zuckerberg argues that Meta’s automated verification systems and internal processes have created a cycle of account shutdowns and appeals, sometimes lasting months.
Meta has acknowledged the error, reinstating Zuckerberg’s account and stating they’re working to prevent similar issues in the future. However, Zuckerberg’s experience raises questions about Big Tech’s accountability and the impact of automated systems on small businesses and individuals.
