Usyk Dominates Dubois to Reclaim Undisputed Heavyweight Crown
Oleksandr Usyk cemented his status as one of boxing’s all-time greats by stopping Daniel Dubois in the fifth round to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion. The Ukrainian boxing legend put on a masterclass in front of a massive crowd of 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, dashing Dubois’ dreams of becoming the first Briton to unify the division in the four-belt era.
The Fight
Usyk, 38, dominated the fight from the opening bell, using his quick footwork and slick defense to evade Dubois’ attacks. The southpaw punctuated each of the opening two rounds with a counter left, leaving Dubois looking unsteady. In the fifth round, Usyk sent Dubois tumbling to the canvas with a crisp right to the temple. Although Dubois showed incredible spirit to beat the count, the writing was already on the wall. A trusty left hook landed clean on his chin, and his corner threw in the towel as the referee reached the count of nine.

Aftermath
The victory marked Usyk’s 24th win in as many professional fights, and he extended his perfect record. Dubois, on the other hand, suffered his third defeat in 25 contests, with each of those losses coming inside the distance. Usyk reclaimed the IBF title, which was stripped from him just weeks after unifying the division in 2023, and added it to his WBA (Super), WBO, and WBC belts.
What’s Next
Usyk has called out Tyson Fury, Joseph Parker, and Derek Chisora, leaving the door open for a potential bout against one of these boxing legends. Dubois, meanwhile, will need to rebuild his career and find a new path to success. The 27-year-old has options, including fighting interim WBC champion Agit Kabayel, WBA ‘Regular’ champion Kubrat Pulev, or even Deontay Wilder.
