Sudan condemns Uganda for hosting RSF leader Dagalo.

The authorities in Sudan have expressed their strong condemnation of Uganda because the country chose to host Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo who serves as the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The Sudanese government considers this action to be an extreme insult because the international community currently accuses Sudan of committing war crimes during its civil conflict.

Dagalo who people commonly refer to as Hemetti arrived at the State House in Entebbe to meet with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Friday. He brought with him important political leaders who included Abdel Aziz al-Hilu from the SPLM-N and members of the Tasis Presidential Council and Tasis bloc ministers and Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan al-Taishi.

The visit marked Dagalo’s first public international engagement since mid-2025. His last known appearance was in a video message to RSF fighters in a remote part of Darfur.

Sudan’s Foreign Ministry released a statement in which it condemned Uganda for the treatment of Dagalo because they consider it an exceptional development which violates established diplomatic standards during a time when Sudan experiences critical civilian losses. The ministry cited documented atrocities attributed to the RSF and noted that regional bodies including the African Union have condemned violence linked to the group.

Khartoum argued that welcoming Dagalo disregards international norms governing relations between states and amounts to implicit support for armed rebellion against Sudan’s internationally recognized government. Sudan recognized Uganda possesses the authority to establish its diplomatic relations but the country considers Uganda’s current actions as harmful to Sudanese national interests.

The Sudanese government declared that it would block all paths through its country and its neighboring territories which rebel groups might use to launch their operations.

The fighting between the Sudanese military and the RSF started in April 2023 and caused a death toll that reached at least 10000 people.
