The UK plans to send additional air defence equipment and troops to the Middle East as tensions with Iran continue to rise, Defence Secretary John Healey has announced.

 Military Deployment

The UK will deploy the Sky Sabre to Saudi Arabia, strengthening regional air defence capabilities.

In addition, the deployment of British Typhoon fighter jet in Qatar will be extended as part of ongoing cooperation with allied forces.

The UK’s Lightweight Multirole Missile Launcher has also been sent to Bahrain, where it is being integrated into local defence systems.

 Troop Support

Nearly 1,000 British troops are expected to be deployed across the region to help install, operate, and train allied forces in using these systems.

 Regional Talks

During visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain, Healey held discussions with allies about security in the Strait of Hormuz and wider UK-Gulf cooperation.

 UK Commitment

Healey said the UK would continue to stand by its partners in the region and support efforts to reduce tensions and work toward a resolution to the conflict.

The deployment comes as Iran-linked attacks continue to raise security concerns across the Middle East.
