UCC Student

A tragic incident has claimed the life of a student from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) after he was struck by a shuttle while attempting to retrieve his student ID before an examination.

The student, Caleb Mensah, popularly known among colleagues as Paywa, reportedly arrived at the examination hall but realized he had left his student identification card behind. According to accounts from fellow students, he was asked to return and bring the ID before he could be allowed to sit for the examination.

In a rush to retrieve the card, Caleb reportedly boarded a motorbike to quickly return to his hostel. However, during the trip back, the motorbike was involved in a collision with a campus shuttle. The accident caused severe injuries and he sadly lost his life shortly after the crash.

The heartbreaking incident has sent shockwaves through the UCC community, with many students expressing grief and disbelief over the sudden loss of their colleague. Friends and classmates describe Caleb as a lively and well-known student on campus and news of his passing has sparked widespread mourning on social media.

Students have also raised concerns about road safety on campus, especially regarding the movement of motorbikes and shuttle buses during busy periods such as examinations.

Authorities are yet to release a full official statement on the circumstances surrounding the accident, but investigations are expected to determine exactly how the collision occurred and whether new safety measures will be introduced to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
