A missile strike has hit the Embassy of the United States in Baghdad, sending smoke and fire rising above the diplomatic compound in Baghdad.

The attack comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, raising fears that the regional conflict could expand further.

Trump claims Iranian targets destroyed

US President Donald Trump said American forces had struck military positions on Kharg Island, a key strategic oil hub in the Persian Gulf.

Trump said “every military target” on the island had been “totally obliterated.” However, reports indicated that oil infrastructure on the island remained undamaged.

Kharg Island lies about 22 miles off Iran’s coast and plays a crucial role in the country’s oil exports.

Iran issues warning

Officials in Tehran warned that energy infrastructure linked to companies cooperating with the United States could become targets if Iranian oil facilities are attacked.

Iranian authorities said any strikes on their energy sector would result in severe retaliation against oil and energy assets connected to US allies.

Rising tensions across the region

The conflict is intensifying across the Middle East, with both Israel and Iran warning of further military actions.

In Lebanon, at least 12 medical staff were reportedly killed in an Israeli strike, highlighting the growing humanitarian impact of the regional fighting.

Meanwhile, US officials say additional forces—including US Marines and naval warships—are expected to be deployed to the region to strengthen military readiness.

Analysts warn the situation could significantly affect global energy markets and regional stability if the conflict continues to escalate.
