Trump rejects Iran’s war proposal as tensions remain high

US President Donald Trump has dismissed Iran’s response to a US-backed proposal to end the war, calling it “totally unacceptable.”

Iran reportedly sent its response through Pakistan, demanding an immediate end to fighting, an end to the US naval blockade on Iranian ports, sanctions relief, and guarantees against future attacks. Reports also suggest Tehran wants recognition of its influence over the Strait of Hormuz.

Despite a fragile ceasefire being mostly observed, tensions remain high as both sides continue to exchange threats. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also insisted Iran’s uranium stockpile and enrichment facilities must be dismantled before any lasting peace can be achieved.

The standoff continues to impact global oil markets, with uncertainty surrounding the future of shipping through the crucial Strait of Hormuz.
