Vivienne Jolie-Pitt Files to Legally Remove ‘Pitt’ From Her Surname
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s Daughter Seeks Official Name Change
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt has become the latest child of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to seek the removal of “Pitt” from her surname.
According to court documents, the 18-year-old filed a legal petition with the Los Angeles County Superior Court on July 20 to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.
The filing states that the reason for the requested name change is “personal.”
A court hearing to consider the petition has been scheduled for November 2.
Following the Same Path as Her Siblings
Vivienne has already been using the surname “Jolie” professionally.
In 2024, she was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Broadway production The Outsiders, which she helped produce alongside her mother, Angelina Jolie.
She is now the latest of the former couple’s children to formally distance herself from the Pitt surname.
Her sister Shiloh successfully changed her surname in August 2024, while similar petitions filed by siblings Zahara and Maddox are still awaiting court decisions.
Zahara also attracted public attention when she introduced herself as Zahara Jolie during her graduation ceremony, while Maddox has long been using the Jolie surname professionally.
Angelina Jolie Reportedly Focused on Healing
According to reports, Angelina Jolie has approached her children’s decisions with understanding rather than resentment.
A source told Page Six that the actress is not angry about the situation and instead hopes that her family can continue healing.
The source added that the children have chosen not to publicly discuss the reasons behind their decisions, describing their silence as a sign of maturity and respect.
Family Relationship Remains Under Spotlight
The latest legal filing comes as public interest in the Jolie-Pitt family continues years after Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s highly publicised separation.
Reports have previously suggested that Brad Pitt’s relationship with several of his children remains strained.
According to published reports, the actor has no contact with some of his older children, while maintaining visitation with the younger twins, Vivienne and Knox.
Neither Angelina Jolie nor Brad Pitt has publicly commented on Vivienne’s latest legal petition.
If approved by the court, Vivienne will officially become the fourth Jolie-Pitt child to adopt the Jolie surname either legally or professionally.
