The person in charge of South Africa in Nigeria Prof. Bobby Moroe said that the reason Ayra Starr did not get a visa at first was because her team gave them the yellow fever paper.
This happened in February 2024 not recently like some people said. He made it clear that the visa was not given because the application did not have what South Africa needs.
Prof. Bobby Moroe talked to *The Punch*. Said that Ayra Starrs team gave them a yellow fever paper from another country but they needed the one from Nigeria, which is where Ayra Starr is from.
The problem was fixed after people from South Africa talked to Ayra Starrs team and told them what they needed to do. Then Ayra Starr got a visa for one year to perform in South Africa in 2024.
Prof. Bobby Moroe said that people are wrong to think that Ayra Starr was treated unfairly because of where she’s from or because she is famous. He said that the rules for getting a visa are the same for everyone.
He also said that it is not true that South Africa is not giving visas to people from Nigeria. In fact more people from Nigeria are asking for visas now. The numbers are going up.
This is all happening because people are talking about how hard it’s for Nigerian entertainers to get visas to go to South Africa. Prof. Bobby Moroe said that if people have what they need they will get a visa no matter where they are, from or who they are. Ayra Starr and other Nigerian entertainers can still get visas to go to South Africa if they do what they are supposed to do. South Africa will keep giving visas to people who meet the requirements, including Ayra Starr and other Nigerian entertainers.
