Zakes Bantwini expands global reach with new double single

South African Grammy Award-winning artist Zakes Bantwini is strengthening his presence in the international electronic music scene with the release of his latest double single, Impatient and You Never Know.

New release on Anjunadeep

The two-track release is out now on Anjunadeep, a global electronic music label and events platform recognised for its melodic, progressive and atmospheric sound.

Founded in 2005 as a sister label to Anjunabeats, Anjunadeep has grown into a major name in electronic music, featuring both established and emerging artists from around the world.

For Zakes Bantwini, joining the label represents another important step in his efforts to take African electronic music to international audiences.

Collaboration with Sun-El Musician

Impatient sees Zakes Bantwini reunite with fellow South African artist Sun-El Musician, whose catalogue includes the popular hit Akanamali and several multi-platinum releases certified by the Recording Industry of South Africa.

The track also features vocals from emerging artist kisskisskiss, adding another voice to the collaboration.

The partnership brings together artists with strong connections to South Africa’s electronic and Afro-house scenes while giving the music a wider international platform.

Working with Jordan Arts

The second track, You Never Know, features South African-born, London-based producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jordan Arts.

Arts has already attracted support from international electronic music figures including David Guetta, Paul van Dyk and Lane 8. He has also performed at major events such as Ultra South Africa and Durban’s Anywhere In Your City festival.

His collaboration with Zakes Bantwini further connects South Africa’s growing electronic music movement with the international scene.

A career spanning two decades

Zakes Bantwini has spent more than 20 years building a career in Afro-house and has become one of South Africa’s most recognised artists in the genre.

His international profile reached another milestone in 2023 when he won a Grammy Award for Best Global Music Performance for Bayethe, a collaboration with Nomcebo Zikode and Wouter Kellerman.

He has also enjoyed major success with Osama, his collaboration with Kasango. The song has surpassed 60 million streams across platforms and spent 14 consecutive weeks at number one on South African radio.

Expanding beyond music

The new release comes as Zakes Bantwini continues to develop his work beyond performing and recording music.

In 2026, he launched the Zakes Bantwini Foundation, while continuing to perform internationally. His recent performances have included shows in New York and Bali, alongside major events in South Africa through his Mayonie Productions brand.

His latest double single therefore adds to a growing body of work that combines music, international collaboration and African cultural influence.
