The streaming platform is set to showcase a mix of reality, documentary and comedy programming, giving audiences an inside look at the lives and relationships of several South African personalities.

Among the most anticipated releases is a new docu-soap following the private wedding journey of Anele Mgudlwa and Bonelela “Buzza James” Mgudlwa.

The couple chose to keep their wedding celebrations away from the public eye for an entire year, despite having more than 10,000 photographs and videos documenting the occasions.

Their story will now be featured in Netflix’s upcoming series, “Stars and Vows: Anele & Buzza.” The production will give viewers an opportunity to see moments from their relationship and wedding celebrations that were deliberately kept private.

Speaking at Netflix’s 10th anniversary celebration, Buzza explained that the decision to wait before sharing their wedding memories made the experience more meaningful.

Instead of releasing photographs and footage immediately after their celebrations, the couple chose to preserve the memories privately before eventually sharing them with audiences through the Netflix production.

The wedding was also kept highly confidential, with the couple limiting the guest list to 300 people and requiring attendees to respect strict confidentiality arrangements.

Anele said maintaining secrecy was challenging but credited the guests for keeping the details private. When asked how she managed to persuade everyone, including older relatives, to remain silent, she simply said that people listened to her.

Buzza jokingly offered a different explanation, suggesting that some guests may have been too scared to reveal the details.

The couple’s traditional wedding ceremony took place in April 2025, followed by a private white wedding in November of the same year.

Beyond keeping the celebrations secret, Anele said the wedding planning process also had an unexpected impact on their relationship.

The couple were already close friends before getting married, but working together on the wedding plans brought them even closer.

Anele joked that she would regularly add new ideas to their plans while Buzza would remove some of them. She said she often had to convince him that the different elements would eventually come together.

Rather than allowing disagreements over wedding decisions to create tension, however, the couple approached the planning process as a team.

Their experience forms part of Netflix’s broader push to highlight South African stories and personalities through locally produced entertainment.

The upcoming lineup is expected to combine personal stories with romance, humour and cultural themes, offering viewers a variety of productions to watch.
