Pressure builds after poor start

Fulham sit bottom of the Premier League table with two points after losing four and drawing two of their opening six matches.

The 43-year-old Spaniard faces increasing pressure ahead of Saturday’s home game against Hull City at Craven Cottage. Reports have suggested another defeat could put his position at risk, but Arbeloa described the week as normal.

He said the priority was helping the club and players secure a victory for supporters who had continued backing the team.

Late goals cost Fulham valuable points

Fulham came close to their first league win last weekend after Ryan Sessegnon put them ahead against Ipswich Town. However, two late goals turned the match into another defeat.

They also missed out on victory against Manchester United before the international break after Matheus Cunha scored a deflected goal in the closing stages.

Arbeloa said his team had shown the required commitment in those matches, as well as in their goalless draw against Liverpool. He believes the challenge is maintaining that performance level for the full 90 minutes.

Arbeloa backs players to respond

The former Liverpool defender joined Fulham in the summer on a three-year contract, replacing Marco Silva after a short spell as Real Madrid’s interim head coach.

Despite his disappointing start in English football, Fulham have reached the last 16 of the Carabao Cup, where they are due to host Crystal Palace this month.

Arbeloa said he had seen commitment from his players during training and believes they are focused on the challenge against Hull.
