British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua has relocated to Dubai, joining a growing number of wealthy individuals leaving the United Kingdom.
Corporate filings reportedly show Joshua now listing Dubai as his place of residence. The move is believed to be linked to tax considerations, as the United Arab Emirates does not charge income tax, making it a popular destination for high-net-worth individuals.
Joshua’s business interests are estimated to be worth around $160 million, which could have resulted in significant tax obligations in the UK.
According to projections from the Office for Budget Responsibility, tens of thousands of wealthy residents may leave the UK each year in what has been described as a growing “millionaire exodus.”
Data from the Office for National Statistics shows about 257,000 British citizens left the country in the year ending December 2024.
Joshua, a two-time heavyweight champion with Nigerian heritage, holds both British and Nigerian nationality.
