King Charles Pays Emotional Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on Her 100th Birthday

Britain’s King Charles III has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Elizabeth II, marking what would have been her 100th birthday.

In a video message released on Tuesday, the King affectionately referred to her as “darling mama,” praising her lifelong dedication and unwavering commitment to public service.

He described the late monarch as “constant, steadfast and wholly devoted to the people she served,” reflecting on her legacy during a reign that lasted 70 years.

The tribute coincided with the unveiling of the final design for a national memorial in her honour. The monument will feature a statue created by sculptor Martin Jennings, depicting a young Queen Elizabeth II in ceremonial robes.

The design draws inspiration from a well-known 1955 portrait by Italian artist Pietro Annigoni, painted early in her reign.

The memorial, set to be located in St James’s Park near Buckingham Palace, will also include landscaped gardens, walking paths, and a symbolic glass bridge inspired by the Queen’s wedding tiara.

A second statue will honour her late husband, Prince Philip, shown in naval uniform.

Queen Elizabeth II, who died in 2022 at the age of 96, became monarch in 1952 at just 25 years old following the death of her father, King George VI. Her accession followed the abdication of her uncle, Edward VIII, in 1936.

In his tribute, King Charles reflected on his mother’s enduring optimism, noting her belief that “goodness will always prevail” and that individuals can help shape a better future.
