American rapper Doja Cat has spoken candidly about her mental health after revealing that she has been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.

The singer shared the news in a TikTok video, where she discussed the emotional challenges she has faced and the progress she has made through therapy. The artist, known for hits like Demons, explained that for much of her life she felt the need to pretend everything was fine.

According to Doja Cat, she learned from a young age to hide her real emotions and act as if she was happy even when she was struggling. She said that constantly pretending eventually took a toll on her mental health.

Borderline personality disorder is a mental health condition that affects how individuals see themselves and interact with others. It can lead to intense emotional swings, unstable relationships, impulsive behaviour, and a deep fear of abandonment.

The 30-year-old artist described living with the condition as “agonising” and said she believes she may have been dealing with it for most of her life.

Despite the difficulties, Doja Cat said therapy has played a crucial role in her recovery. She revealed that she has been in treatment for several years and considers it an ongoing journey toward healing and personal growth.

The rapper also used the moment to express support for fellow singer Chappell Roan, who has recently faced criticism over her interactions with paparazzi.

Doja Cat praised Roan for being open about her feelings and setting boundaries in public spaces. She said watching the artist confidently protect her personal space inspired her to become more honest with herself and others about her own struggles.

Her candid remarks have sparked conversations online about mental health awareness and the importance of seeking support when facing emotional challenges.
