Coldplay’s Chris Martin Calls Hull Rapper Chiedu Oraka to Offer Support Gig

Chiedu Oraka, a rapper from Hull, has revealed the “surreal” moment he received a call from Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, offering him a support gig for their upcoming concerts in Hull. Oraka will join Coldplay at Craven Park on August 18 and 19.

According to Oraka, Martin contacted him via Facetime from a studio in Los Angeles, introducing himself and expressing his admiration for Oraka’s music. Martin quoted some of Oraka’s lyrics and invited him to perform with Coldplay in Hull.

Oraka, who rose to fame on BBC Introducing and played Glastonbury Festival last year, said the opportunity “doesn’t feel real.” He’s determined to make the city proud and bring the Hull energy to the shows.

“I want to make Hull proud,” Oraka said. “I’m going to just live in the moment and enjoy it.” The concerts in Hull are part of Coldplay’s summer tour, which includes a record 10 nights at Wembley Stadium.
