US-Moroccan rapper to headline two major South African shows in December
US-Moroccan rapper and hip-hop superstar French Montana is set to perform in South Africa this December, adding to the growing list of international artists bringing major live shows to the country.
AFROTRAX, in partnership with PLAYY. Music, has announced that French Montana will headline two exclusive events in Cape Town and Johannesburg as part of the new entertainment series.
Cape Town show
The series will begin at The Ostrich in Cape Town on Friday, December 4, 2026.
The outdoor event will run from 2pm until midnight and is expected to offer audiences a summer festival experience at one of South Africa’s well-known event locations.
Organisers say the Cape Town edition will combine live music, entertainment and lifestyle experiences, with additional artists and support acts expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Johannesburg performance
The event will then move to The Canvas in Johannesburg on Saturday, December 5.
The Johannesburg edition will run from 2pm until 11pm and is expected to deliver a high-energy urban festival atmosphere.
Fans will also have access to a wider entertainment experience beyond the headline performance, with local artists, DJs, food vendors, lifestyle activations and premium hospitality expected to form part of the event.
French Montana’s global success
French Montana has become one of the most recognisable names in international hip-hop, building a global audience and accumulating billions of streams throughout his career.
The rapper is known for popular tracks including “Unforgettable”, “No Stylist”, “Pop That” and “Ain’t Worried About Nothin”.
His upcoming South African performances are expected to attract fans from across the country and further strengthen the connection between international music and Africa’s vibrant entertainment scene.
AFROTRAX launches new platform
The concerts mark the launch of AFROTRAX, a new live entertainment platform created to celebrate the intersection of African culture, music, fashion and global entertainment.
The organisers say their vision is to create world-class experiences that connect international artists with Africa’s creative communities.
They described launching the platform with French Montana as a significant milestone and the beginning of a much larger project.
More experiences planned
The organisers say both events will offer more than headline performances, with immersive production, food and lifestyle experiences, VIP packages and premium hospitality planned for attendees.
Additional artists, support acts and hospitality packages will be announced ahead of the events.
AFROTRAX said the Johannesburg show will focus on an energetic urban festival atmosphere, while the Cape Town edition will provide an outdoor summer experience.
The two performances are expected to become major highlights of South Africa’s December entertainment calendar as AFROTRAX seeks to establish a new platform connecting African audiences with some of the biggest names in global music.
