Andrew arrest

Thames Valley Police has confirmed the arrest of a man in his sixties in connection with an investigation into alleged misconduct in public office.

The arrest took place on Thursday following what the force described as a detailed assessment of a complaint involving the alleged sharing of confidential material with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The individual arrested is Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, who has previously denied any wrongdoing relating to matters connected to Epstein.

In a statement released on 19 February, police said:

“As part of the investigation, we have today arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.

“The man remains in police custody at this time.

“We will not be naming the arrested man, as per national guidance. Please also remember that this case is now active so care should be taken with any publication to avoid being in contempt of court.”

Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright added that the force had formally opened an investigation following a thorough review of the allegation.

“It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence,” he said.

He acknowledged the level of public interest surrounding the case and stated that further updates would be provided when appropriate.

The investigation remains ongoing.
