The Bauchi State High Court has completed 51 criminal cases which led to 64 people being found guilty for various crimes that include armed robbery and kidnapping and rape and culpable homicide and conspiracy and fraud.
The statement from Saleh Umar who works as Information Officer for the Bauchi State Judicial Service Commission provided the information that the court delivered its decisions in October 2025 according to the existing legal system which includes the Penal Code and the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act and the Bauchi State Penal Code of 2022.
Muhammad Maina and Yakubu Adamu received death sentences through hanging because they committed armed robbery. Seven others received life imprisonment without the option of a fine for offenses such as rape, conspiracy, robbery, culpable homicide, and kidnapping. The group consisted of Shehu Isa, Adamu Adamu (alias Nalele), Mohammed Bello, Kabiru Ahmed, Muhammad Jibrin (alias Al-Amin), Usman Bello (alias Maigamo), and Manu Umaru (alias Alhaji Manu).
The court sentenced eleven people who committed fraud to three months of imprisonment without any possibility of paying a fine for their offenses. The group consisted of Abubakar Shehu, Yusuf Aliyu Alhassan, Miracle Chidi, Dominic Lazarus, James Myaulompwa, Lawus Zakka, Sadiq Dosumo, Jude Titus, Joseph Olamide Adesunmila, Koche Samuel, and Falour Odinaka.
The court imposed prison sentences that varied from three months to ten years on other offenders who received fines which ranged between N10,000 and N500,000 according to their crime severity.
Umar explained that the judges made their decisions after conducting impartial trials which allowed prosecutors to demonstrate that the accused parties had committed their alleged crimes. He observed that the court issued strict penalties which would deter people from committing crimes especially kidnapping which continues to be a major security problem in the state.
