US President Sparks Debate Over NBA Greatness
US President Donald Trump has sparked controversy after suggesting basketball superstar LeBron James may be “a racist” while discussing the debate over who is the greatest NBA player of all time.
The comments came during a White House news conference after James announced that he would continue his legendary career with the Philadelphia 76ers.
When asked whether James or basketball icon Michael Jordan deserved the title of the greatest player in NBA history, Trump said he would choose Jordan, citing their personal friendship and Jordan’s achievements with the Chicago Bulls.
“Michael Jordan is a guy that’s a friend of mine. I play golf with him. He’s a really good guy,” Trump said.
He then added that James may dislike him because of their different political views.
James and Trump Have History of Public Disagreements
LeBron James has frequently criticized Trump during his presidential terms and has publicly supported Democratic candidates, including Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris during their presidential campaigns.
In 2017, James called Trump “a bum” following a dispute involving White House invitations for NBA championship teams.
The basketball star has not publicly responded to Trump’s latest comments.
The relationship between the two has remained tense over the years, with James often using his platform to speak about social issues and politics.
Jordan vs James Debate Continues
The debate over whether Michael Jordan or LeBron James is the greatest basketball player of all time has remained one of the biggest discussions in sports.

James said he believes he can help turn the team into a championship contender.
“I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team,” James said in a social media statement.
