The Croatian star, who turns 41 in September, joined Milan last summer on a one-year deal with an option to extend after ending his legendary 13-year spell at Real Madrid.

Despite his age, Modric remained an important figure for Milan during his first season, making 37 appearances and scoring two goals as the club finished fifth in Serie A and reached the last 16 of the Coppa Italia.

Modric Commits to Milan Project

Modric expressed his happiness after agreeing to continue his career with the Italian giants.

He said he felt welcomed and appreciated from the moment he arrived at San Siro and believes the club has the ambition to improve after a disappointing season.

“After a season below our expectations, the desire to bounce back is immense,” Modric said.

The midfielder added that he is motivated by the new challenge ahead and remains determined to give his best for the Milan shirt.

He also said he cannot wait to return to San Siro and experience the support of the club’s passionate supporters again.

Legendary Career Continues

Modric arrives at another milestone after recently representing Croatia at his fifth World Cup.

Croatia were eliminated in the last 32 by Portugal, ending another international campaign for one of the country’s greatest-ever players.

Since becoming Croatia captain in 2016, Modric has helped guide the national team to a World Cup final appearance in 2018 and a third-place finish in 2022.

His achievements at club level are equally remarkable.

During his time at Real Madrid, Modric won six Champions League titles, four La Liga championships and the 2018 Ballon d’Or.

Before moving to Spain, he spent four seasons at Tottenham Hotspur, making 160 appearances for the Premier League club.

New Era Under Ruben Amorim

Modric will continue his Milan journey under new manager Ruben Amorim, who replaced Massimiliano Allegri in June.

The Portuguese coach will hope the experience and leadership of the Croatian midfielder can help Milan return to the top of Italian football.

AC Milan praised Modric’s impact since joining the club, describing him as a key figure who has contributed both on and off the pitch.

The club highlighted his experience, quality, humility and passion, saying the Croatian remains one of the most iconic players in world football.

Milan Hope for More Success

With another season ahead, Modric will aim to help Milan achieve better results and compete for major honours.

The midfielder’s decision to extend his stay shows his continued desire to perform at the highest level despite approaching his 41st birthday.

For Milan fans, the chance to watch one of football’s greatest midfielders continue wearing the famous red and black shirt is a major boost ahead of the new campaign.
