Over 600 Kenyans Trapped in Cambodia Trafficking Case
More than 600 citizens of Kenya are reportedly stranded in Cambodia in what authorities describe as a large-scale human trafficking and labour exploitation case.
According to reports, many of the victims were allegedly lured with promises of well-paying jobs, only to find themselves trapped in exploitative working conditions upon arrival. Families back home are calling on the Kenyan government to urgently intervene and secure their safe return.
Officials say investigations are ongoing, with diplomatic channels being activated to assess the situation and provide consular assistance. Advocacy groups have also raised concerns about the growing number of young Africans being trafficked to parts of Southeast Asia through fraudulent recruitment schemes.
Authorities are urging job seekers to verify overseas employment offers carefully and avoid suspicious agents to prevent further exploitation.
