Moscow says Britain will face consequences as UK defends support for Kyiv
Russia has accused the UK of escalating the war in Ukraine after British-made drones were reportedly used in strikes against targets inside Russian territory.
The Russian Embassy in London said Britain was acting as an “accomplice” in attacks and warned that deeper involvement in the conflict would bring consequences.
UK stands with Ukraine
The UK Ministry of Defence rejected the warning and said Britain remained committed to supporting Ukraine against Russia’s invasion.
A spokesperson said the UK would continue providing equipment Ukraine needs to defend itself.
British drones used in Russia
The drones were built by two British companies and have reportedly been used against Russian military and industrial targets, including fuel facilities and warehouses.
A military source confirmed to the BBC that UK-made drones had been involved in some of the attacks.
Escalating strikes
Russia’s warning comes after a series of major Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory.
Russian officials said hundreds of drones were launched towards areas around Moscow, while Ukrainian authorities reported deaths and injuries following Russian strikes in the Zaporizhzhia region.
UK expands military support
The UK announced in April that it would provide Ukraine with tens of thousands of drones, including long-range strike systems, as part of its largest-ever drone package.
The latest dispute highlights growing tensions between Moscow and London as the war continues.
