Colonel Dmytro Kozyura, previously a senior figure in Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), was convicted of high treason under martial law. Prosecutors said he used his position to pass classified information about Ukraine’s military operations, leadership, and infrastructure to Russian handlers in exchange for financial gain.

Authorities said the investigation, codenamed “Rat,” uncovered a network of covert communications, including the use of safehouses in Kyiv and encrypted contact with Russian operatives. The SBU also alleged that Kozyura shared sensitive documents and intelligence related to troop movements and the impact of Russian strikes.

He was arrested in 2025 after a surveillance operation and later convicted by a court in Kyiv, with prosecutors describing his actions as a serious betrayal during an ongoing conflict. Ukrainian officials said the case highlights continued efforts to uncover Russian infiltration within state institutions.
